Drawn from a decade in which more than 18,000 photojournalists submitted over 125,000 images, the volume moves through war, protest, natural disaster, sport and everyday life, pairing photographs with contextual accounts of the events they document. Alongside the images are reflections from leading members of the jury, including Marion Mertens, Carol Guzy, Georges DeKeerle and Ami Vitale, as well as a foreword by Anadolu President and CEO Serdar Karagöz. At once an archive of contemporary history and a study of the evolving language of press photography, the book traces ten years in which the camera repeatedly became witness, evidence and record.
