Defend Yourself marks Sebadoh’s long-awaited return after a 14-year gap, reintroducing Lou Barlow, Jason Loewenstein and Bob D’Amico’s brand of lo-fi indie rock with renewed urgency. Self-recorded and self-produced in the DIY spirit that defined their early work, the album channels raw emotion through jagged guitars, wry melodies and confessional lyrics about personal upheaval and resilience. Tracks like “I Will” and “Defend Yr Self” balance melodic immediacy with gritty textures, underscoring Sebadoh’s enduring commitment to honest, irreducible rock expression.
