TAXI / Dasht-e Lut is a two-part artist book by Dutch photographer Roelant Meijer, tracing both the difficulty of reaching the desert and the sensory vastness of inhabiting it. Taxi focuses on the threshold—logistics, delay, endurance—while Dasht-e Lut immerses the reader in Iran’s Lut Desert: salt plains, towering dunes, eroded kaluts, and an overwhelming, dreamlike emptiness. Printed on carefully chosen papers and entirely hand-assembled, the book treats materiality as landscape. The deliberately weathered cover of Dasht-e Lut echoes erosion itself, allowing time, touch, and wear to complete the work.
