In A Dying Monster, Eren Ileri turns Formula 1 into an image of extraction capitalism accelerating towards its own exhaustion. Photographed between 2015 and 2018 at Grand Prix races in Abu Dhabi, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Monaco and Italy, the predominantly black-and-white series accumulates corporate logos across bodies, machines and architecture until sponsorship itself becomes the visual subject. Drivers appear as operators within increasingly data-driven technological systems, while the car emerges as both extension of the human body and product of an immense corporate apparatus. A text by Bécquer Medak-Seguín expands this critique through the competing constructions of masculinity embodied by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Designed by Zenobia Ahmed and published by Well Gedacht Publishing in an edition of 350, the book reads Formula 1 less as sport than as spectacle: speed, capital, technology and desire performing at the edge of their own decline.
