Shadow of the Sun is the third full-length from Portland-based psychedelic duo Moon Duo — Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada — expanding their hypnotic psych-rock terrain with droning rhythms, motorik momentum and spectral guitar lines. Anchored by cyclic grooves and washes of fuzz and synth, the album refracts influences from proto-punk, krautrock and cosmic folk into a dense but lucid sound world, channeling both introspective mood and outsider energy. With contributions from drummer John Jeffrey and mixing in Berlin, this record stands as a pivotal statement in the band’s evolution.
