Spacelines: Sonic Sounds for Subterraneans is a sprawling compilation curated by Sonic Boom (Peter Kember of Spacemen 3/Spectrum) that maps a lineage of psych, blues, folk and avant-pop that fed into the subterranean guitar cultures of the ’60s through the ’80s. Issued on Munster Records as a double vinyl assemblage, the set juxtaposes gospel (The Staple Singers), blues (Lightnin’ Hopkins), free jazz (Sun Ra), garage rock, freakbeat and proto-psychedelia, creating a tapestry where underground currents converge and ripple outward — a sort of archaeological soundtrack for mind-expanding guitar music that helped shape Sonic Boom’s own ethos.
