Produced from Metin Aktaş’s three years working as an Anadolu Ajansı photojournalist in Pakistan between 2013 and 2016, Photo Notes from Pakistan records a country caught between political instability, displacement, natural disaster and the persistence of everyday life. Moving from Afghan refugee communities in Islamabad and Peshawar to floods, earthquakes, religious and cultural festivals, rural landscapes and dense urban scenes, Aktaş combines documentary photography with firsthand observations from the field. Rather than reducing Pakistan to the spectacle of crisis, the book builds a layered visual record of South Asia through migration, resilience and ordinary human encounters—an intimate photojournalistic archive shaped by sustained proximity rather than passing observation.
