Postcards from Number Fifty: Memory/Recollection II

Publisher: Number Fifty: Memory/Recollection II, Istanbul, 1993

Editor / Curator: Vasif Kortun

Format: Set of exhibition postcards

A set of postcards produced for *Number Fifty: Memory/Recollection II*, the landmark exhibition curated by Vasif Kortun in 1993 at #50 Akaretler, Istanbul. The exhibition was closed prematurely after its promotional banner was removed and replaced with a political poster, making these postcards surviving documents of one of the most discussed moments in the history of contemporary art in Turkey. More than exhibition memorabilia, they function as archival traces of an exhibition shaped as much by its disappearance as by its presentation.
