Entre Chien & Loup (“Between Dog and Wolf”) is a handmade artist book by Omar Houssien addressing sexual identity at the threshold between repression and excess. Using the visual language of children’s books, each brightly colored illustration depicts a different sexual desire, accompanied by a short, definition-like text. By deliberately banalizing and decontextualizing imagery associated with sexual “deviancy,” Houssien questions norms of decency and proposes sexual normalization through ambiguity and play.
