Eine Alman Stadt is a photographic artist’s book by Ipek Burçak examining the subtle visual politics of everyday life in a mid-sized German city. Made from photographs taken in Kassel between 2012 and 2017, the publication moves through suburban houses, Vorgärten, memorial sites, public greenery, and seemingly neutral urban spaces to reveal the ideological structures embedded within the ordinary. Rather than documenting the city as a fixed geography, Burçak exposes how ideas of "German normality" are constructed through architecture, private property, landscape, and exclusion. Printed entirely in multicolour Risograph, the publication combines photography with experimental text, offering a critical reflection on nationalism, domestic space, and the aesthetics of everyday life.
