Foreign Places is conceived as an alternative travel guide, published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name at WIELS. Eight artists were invited by designer and former WIELS resident Stefano Faoro to imagine a “place” specifically for the book page—ranging from buildings and cities to fragmented or fictional locations. The publication concludes with A Glossary of Place Names by Caroline Dumalin and the essay From Beirut to Brussels by Grégory Castéra, reflecting on curating, displacement, and temporary attachment to place and practice.
